Balloons lift off from the West Bank at first light, when the air is calm. From the basket you look down on the Temple of Hatshepsut, the Ramesseum, the Colossi of Memnon, sugar cane fields and the Nile, with the Theban hills behind.
How the morning works
Pickup from your hotel or cruise ship before dawn, a short boat crossing to the West Bank, the inflation and launch, then the flight itself. Time in the air is usually around 45 minutes to an hour, depending on the wind.
Safety and weather
Flights are licensed and depend on the wind on the morning. If the authorities cancel flights for weather, the rebooking or refund terms are the ones set out in your quote.
Good to know
It is cold before sunrise in winter, so bring a layer. Balloon flights are not recommended in pregnancy or for anyone with mobility or back problems.
