Every Nile cruise and Egypt package we currently have availability on, in one place. These range from short four-night sailings between Luxor and Aswan to multi-week itineraries taking in Cairo, the Red Sea and Lake Nasser.

Prices on the Nile move with the season rather than with last-minute discounting. October to April is peak, when the weather is best and the better ships fill months ahead. May, September and the shoulder weeks either side are noticeably cheaper for the same itinerary, and summer sailings are cheapest of all — though Luxor and Aswan regularly pass 40°C in July and August, which is not for everyone.

Where the savings actually are:

• Travel in shoulder season. Late April, May and September give you the same temples with thinner crowds.
• Take a lower deck. Cabin position affects price more than most travellers expect, and you sleep in it rather than look at it.
• Consider a deluxe ship over luxury on short sailings. On three or four nights you are ashore most mornings anyway — see our class comparison.
• Ask what is excluded. Drinks, Abu Simbel and balloon flights are usually extra, and they add up.
