Nile Maxim – The Boat & The Evening
What this is, and what it is not
The Nile Maxim is a Cairo dinner cruise, not a Nile cruise. The boat sails a short round trip on the river at Zamalek and returns to its mooring the same evening. It is an evening out in Cairo rather than a way to travel between Luxor and Aswan, and most guests book it as an extra night at the start or end of a longer trip.
It runs every day of the week from 8pm to 10pm. The boat seats up to 240 guests on a single level rather than across decks, and it is moored at Saraya El Gezira in Zamalek. The operator, Maxim Restaurants, also takes it for private events.
A la carte rather than a buffet
Maxim Restaurants describes the Nile Maxim as the only cruising restaurant in Cairo serving a la carte international cuisine. That is genuinely unusual. Almost every dinner cruise in the city runs a fixed open buffet, and the a la carte format is the operator’s stated point of difference.
It matters when you compare quotes, because many packages sold around this boat bundle a set buffet menu and a show instead, which is a different evening from the one the operator describes. If the a la carte dining is the reason you want it, tell us and we will confirm in writing which format your booking actually covers.
Entertainment, and a caution about it
The operator states that there is live entertainment on board, and nothing more specific than that. The belly dance, tanoura and folklore line-ups you will see advertised against this boat elsewhere belong to individual tour packagers rather than to the Nile Maxim itself, so treat them as part of a particular package rather than a guaranteed feature of the evening. We confirm what your booking includes before you pay.
Practical notes
- Drinks are normally charged separately rather than included with dinner, and tips are extra.
- Hotel pickup and drop-off is bundled by some sellers and not others. Check yours.
- No rates are published by the operator, and packages vary widely in what they cover, so we quote on request rather than listing a headline price.
- Because it is a short evening sailing in the city, this pairs naturally with a Cairo stay rather than replacing a Nile cruise. See our Cairo and Nile cruise packages if you want both.
