Dendera and Abydos Day Tour from Luxor – Tour Details
Beyond Karnak and Luxor Temple
Most visitors to Luxor never go north, and they miss two of the finest temples in Egypt. Both keep much of their original colour and carving, and both are far quieter than the sites in Luxor.
Abydos
The Temple of Seti I, with some of the most delicate reliefs in Egypt and the Abydos King List, a carved roll call of the pharaohs. Behind it lies the Osireion, the mysterious structure linked to the god Osiris.
Dendera
The Temple of Hathor, one of the most complete temples in Egypt: a hall of Hathor-headed columns with a painted ceiling, rooftop chapels, a cast of the Dendera zodiac, and a relief of Cleopatra on the rear wall.
Good to know
Abydos is around three hours north of Luxor by road, so this is a full day. We usually visit Abydos first and stop at Dendera on the way back.
