Overview
A Dahabiya is a traditional two-masted sailing boat carrying only a handful of cabins, and it offers a fundamentally different experience from the larger motor cruisers. Because of their size, Dahabiyas can moor at small riverside sites that big ships pass by, including Gebel el Silsila, El Kab and Wadi el Shat. This nine day package pairs Cairo’s essential sites with a slow sail between Luxor and Aswan, suited to travellers who value quiet, small group travel and time on the water over onboard entertainment.Planning notes: our guide to the Dahabiya Nile cruise experience explains how these sailing boats differ from motor ships. Read about the quieter stops on this route: Esna Temple, El Kab and Gebel el Silsila.
